ThE Delicate Tears of The Waning Moon
Roberts (Rodrigo) played opposite Rebeca Alemán (Paulina) in Water People Theater’s original production “The Delicate Tears of the Waning Moon.” After a successful short run at the Insituto Cervantes in Chicago (the show was “Recommended” by the Chicago Reader; Alemán was nominated for a Jeff Award), this heart-rending story based on true events wowed audiences at the annual Latino theater festival Encuentro in Los Angeles. Six months later, the show was widely praised in a second, full run at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, where it landed on Stage Raw’s “Top 10” list. Larchmont Buzz called it “a remarkable writing and especially acting tour de force.” And writing for The Nerds of Color, Edward Hong described it as “an astounding two-hander that captures your attention from the very first second and refuses to let you go until its bittersweet end. This is made entirely possible by Alemán and Roberts, who are so compelling and so endearing as Paulina and Rodrigo.”
